A deep dive into the all-new Personalise Make Wear

A deep dive into the all-new Personalise Make Wear
Duncan MacOwan, Head of Marketing & Events at FESPA discusses the new feature that will take place at Personalisation Experience 2024 and Sportswear Pro 2024, Personalisation Make Wear. This feature will showcase the end-to-end customised, sustainable and on-demand production of sports-related merchandise.

We’re less than a month away from welcoming you to the brand-new Personalise Make Wear feature, running alongside Personalisation Experience and Sportswear Pro, from the 19 to 22 March 2024, at the RAI, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

I am looking forward to introducing Personalise Make Wear, and providing visitors with the chance to discover the opportunities personalisation presents, as well as technologies from a range of manufacturers.

The feature, located in Hall 11 on stand A20, will showcase the end-to-end customised, sustainable and on-demand production of sports-related merchandise. Taking the form of a ‘smart factory’, Personalise Make Wear will be made up of four workflows highlighting cutting edge technologies and software solutions, expert-guided production tours, fireside chats with industry specialists, and catwalks showing off the garments.

The exploration area will be hosted by our very own Textile Ambassador and CEO of Textintel, Debbie McKeegan and we are thrilled to welcome experts like Debbie alongside a host of suppliers including Kornit, Pattern Room, Dekken, Coldenhove, Inkcups, Caldera, MS, Antigro, Tajima, Klieverik, Stahls, SEI Laser, and GreenTex, to provide visitors with a deeper insight into sustainable manufacturing, personalised production and automation.
So, why are we launching the feature? There are two key parts to it.

Firstly, as consumers continue to request products that are tailored to their every demand, personalisation now goes way beyond a name on a product and, as a result, it continues to gain traction.

In response to this, in recent years, customisation-enabling technologies have advanced significantly and brands and manufacturers alike are re-aligning their production processes with one thing in mind – the consumer. After all, if you aren’t integrating personalised products and services into your offering, it’s likely that you are going to get left behind.

Couple this with the fact that sportswear is a vital growth sector for garment manufacturing, a key market for FESPA, we see a prime opportunity to host a feature which inspires visitors on the opportunities that exist for customised garment manufacturing, while advising on the steps to be taken and the solutions available on the market. Here’s more on the feature…

Across the micro factory, we will zone in on four workflows:

  • Direct-to-garment production of polyester training tops, using print and software solutions from Antigro and Kornit

  • Roll-to-roll production of yoga pants, using design, print and finishing solutions from Caldera, Antigro, Greentex, MS Group, Coldenhove, Kleiverik, SEI Laser and Tajima

  • Direct-to-object printing on water bottles, using solutions from InkCups

  • Direct-to-film transfers for sweatpants, using design, print and finishing solutions from Antigro and Stahls

We will also invite visitors to participate in expert-guided end-to-end production tours of the micro factory. The tours will cover everything from online ordering and design, to completed products and delivery.

Topping it all off, at 11am, 1.45pm and 4pm on each day of the show, attendees can witness a series of catwalks showcasing the full collection of garments in style.

Fireside chats

Chaired by Debbie McKeegan, there will also be the opportunity to attend a series of discussions, covering topics including:

  • How to implement sustainable manufacturing at any scale

  • The market shifts and technologies driving print workflow automation

  • Exploring the smart factory and customisation technologies

  • Personalised production – the opportunities, challenges and solutions

To gain an even deeper understanding of personalisation, visitors will also be able to visit the Personalisation Experience exhibition and conference programme. Those attending will be able to reimagine the opportunities within customisation, exploring new technologies and products and connecting with a host of industry experts. We are also launching Sportswear Pro this year, an event dedicated exclusively to sportswear manufacturing, where visitors can delve deeper into the manufacturing process, from design, to production and decoration – both on the show floor and in the dedicated conference.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
